Keith is a pioneer in African American Fine Art publishing. An educator, investor, and purveyor of African American art for over 30 years, Keith is a graduate of Memphis State University (now the University of Memphis) with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in English (1989), followed by the Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law (1992).
During college, Keith faced challenges with financing his education. He identified fellow creative student-athletes and monetized their artistic talents, creating income streams that supported students, clients, and himself through the sale of artwork. Before graduating from law school, he began his legal career with Brannon, Murrell & Associates in Memphis. After graduating, he started a family and moved to Denver, Colorado, where he established the Art by Golden / Golden Galleries brand.
Since 1992, Golden Galleries has been a trusted partner among African American artists and investors. The gallery has earned a reputation as the leading fine art publisher of original graphics for African American artists from the golden age era (1980s–2000s). It features collectible and investment-grade works from artists including George Hunt, Najee Dorsey, Anthony Burks, Sr., Ametria Stamps, Ebony Boyd, Jerry Lynn, David Driskell, Sam Gilliam, Mason Archie, and James Denmark. Keith is widely known for providing high-quality, white-glove service in art acquisitions, lectures, and installations.
Keith’s business acumen and legal expertise shaped his career as a fine art contract developer, reviewer, and negotiator. Witnessing the discrimination and devaluation of African American artists, he became a passionate advocate for their work and legacy. He is frequently consulted on intellectual property issues and legacy preservation. Notably, during the 50th anniversary of the Little Rock Nine, he commissioned artist Charly Palmer to create the commemorative masterpiece “Little Rock Nine – 50 Years” to honor their legacy and inspire ongoing action for restorative justice.
As a lecturer, Keith speaks nationally on investing in art, building collections, and developing cultural legacies. He is committed to cultivating emerging artists and strengthening the African American art ecosystem—ensuring artists, collectors, and investors can continue building a thriving economic and cultural marketplace. His efforts have been recognized by organizations such as the National Association of Black County Officials and the National Association of Health Services Executives, both honoring his contributions to advancing African American art.
Keith is an avid golfer and a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He enjoys time with family and friends and mentors young Black men. He currently resides in Denver, Colorado, and maintains a satellite office in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee.
